This is the first or second poem I ever wrote to present as spoken word or slam poetry. I wrote it to motivate and inspire myself and others to break through limitations as a creative. We all experience different types of resistance to write the book, sing the song or create something new. I pray this inspires you and puts fire in your veins on the weekend (or whenever you end up reading it) to breakthrough resistance and any discouragement to step out in your creative calling.

Like a tidal wave

They all line up

Every reason to stand against

The dreams of my future

Prayer becomes oxygen

And I’m tired of not breathing

Concerning the potential

That lies residual in my DNA
