Day #263 - The Lampstand
The Presence - A Devotional for Living in Thanksgiving, Worship and Wonder
““Make a lampstand of pure gold. Hammer out its base and shaft, and make its flowerlike cups, buds and blossoms of one piece with them.”
Exodus 25:31 NIV
Were you scared of the dark when you were a child?
I don’t know that I was scared of the dark but I was scared in the dark. I didn’t like being in a completely dark room. I would always make sure that my parents left the door cracked at night and the hallway light on so I could have some light in my room. Of course God made the night and the dark so we could have a time of rest we certainly need(which I would learn later in life), but it’s good to love the light.
In the Inner Court or Holy Place of the Tabernacle, was the Lampstand with 7 lights. This was not a lampstand with 7 wax candles, rather it was a single hammered piece of gold that had 7 lights and was fueled by oil. The Holy Place was covered and the only light inside was the light from the Lampstand.
God did not give specific measurements for this like He did other pieces of the Tabernacle. “He does not give any measurement to it. God has as much purpose in omitting instructions as He does including them in His Word. There is no measure or dimensions given for this Lampstand; there is no measure to light! Light is limitless, without dimension; so the Lord Jesus in His measure of light, love, truth, grace and mercy is matchless and limitless.” (1)
Jesus is the light of the Tabernacle and the whole world. “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life (John 8:12 NIV).”” It is by Jesus that we see God and that we see all of life. When we see and know Jesus the rest of our life comes into focus. When we are in “the Presence” and so close to our Lord, our eyes see so clearly in His light.
It is so important to come near Him so He can show us where we need to repent, where we need His encouragement or where we could be living under lies. Through our faith in Jesus we get to come near “the Presence” daily and He is still illuminating our lives as the light. Remember, the glory of God shines in the face of Jesus (2 Corinthians 4:6).
Lord Jesus, I run to You, Light of the world and Light of my life. Search me. Reveal Your truth to me, about me and about all that You need me to see in this hour. You are the matchless and limited One. In Your light there is hope, healing and freedom. I love You! In Your precious name, amen.

♥️🙏🏻
I had never before understood why the lampstand with 7 lights had no instructions for dimensions. It all makes perfect sense when you realize that the connection to Jesus, the Light of the world. I new it represented Him but didn't comprehend the reason for not instructing any measurement in it's making. Of course, His light, His love, His grace, truth, and mercy are limitless! What a great and wonderous God we serve. Thank you for the revelation. 🕊
