Day #19 - Future Glory
The Presence - A Devotional for living in Thanksgiving, Worship and Wonder
“For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”
Colossians 3:3-4 NIV
What if I told you there was so much more for you in the presence of God but you have to wait for it?
Waiting can be so hard. Especially when you are waiting for something you really love. Waiting for your wedding day. Waiting for a dream vacation. Waiting for a family reunion. Waiting for Christmas day when you are a kid. But there is something worth waiting for, even to the end of time and that is waiting for the fullness of the manifestation of God’s presence.
There is a promise of future glory for the believer in Jesus. Not only has Jesus solved the problem by His grace of us falling short of God’s glory, He has secured for us a future that contains the fullness of God’s glory.
Now there is certainly a measure of God’s presence that we can experience in this life, but there is a fullness that we will experience when Jesus appears. For the one who is in Christ, we have have a live that we live supernaturally in Him. But as Paul is writing this to the Colossians, He is telling them there is more when Jesus returns. The more is the fullness of His glory.
The greatest day in human history that we look forward to as the saints of God is the return of our King Jesus. When He “appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” If you are in Christ in this life, you will appear with Him in His glorious presence on that future day. Experiencing God’s presence in this life is amazing and spectacular. Experiencing God’s presence in the life to come is beyond what our earthly frame can imagine or endure.
Moses couldn’t experience the fullness of God’s glory and see God face to face. But there is a day where we will behold Him and we will share in that glory. The return of Jesus for some will be a day of sorrow but for those who are redeemed it will be a day unfathomable glory, it will be the ultimate day of “The Presence.”
Father God, thank you for setting my heart on eternity. I will wait for the fullness of your glory. Every glimpse of your presence that I experience in this life makes me long for the day that I will appear with you in glory. Let me wait with excitement and gratitude for the day that I can experience all of who you are, the day where I experience your presence unhindered. In Christ’s name, amen.

What a day that will be! ♥️
What a great day to look forward to.
