What do you think it means that “we are more than conquerors?”

A minister friend in the Philippines, Bishop Frank Santos, once explained to me what it means that we are more than conquerors as believers in Jesus. He said if a boxer wins a great championship fight he is the conqueror. He had to fight hard to obtain the victory. When a fighter wins the championship he gets a prize. However, when he gives the check to his wife, she is more than a conqueror. She gets to receive the prize without having to fight. Similarly, Jesus has won for us a victory but we receive the benefit for which He fought.

How are we more than conquerors? Through Him who loved us. The love of God has caused us to be victorious in life. Now being victorious does not mean that everything in life will be easy, but it does mean that we will ultimately overcome all things because of the love of God for us.

Paul lists all these things that do not have the ability to separate us from the love of God: death nor life, angels nor demons, the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in creation. There is nothing that can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ. Jesus has completely won for us the triumph of God’s love.

Being a person of “the Presence” is being confident in God’s love. We are inseparable, the love of God and I. I don’t have to perceive= whether God loves me through my circumstances. My circumstances are not dictating to me whether God loves me or not. God doesn’t play games with me.

He loves me. He loves me. He loves me. God’s love for me is sealed in Christ. I am an overcomer. I always have access to God in every season and every situation because His love has been settled for me in Christ. God is love and nothing can separate me from Him.

God, I love you because of Your great love for me in Christ Jesus our Lord. Thank you that nothing can separate us and nothing can separate me from Your love. I am more than a conqueror through You who loves me. I confess that I walk in victory because of Your victory for me on the cross. You fought for me and You have won my heart. In Jesus name, amen.
