After writing an article yesterday about Marxism and the effect ideas have on us, I wanted to share with my paid subscribers something I wrote about the power of ideas and how creatives release ideas that are other worldly. Not all ideas are good of course but they are all connected with a power of good or evil to bless or to curse the world in which we live. This poem was written to empower creatives to bring their ideas to life. It came together after an invitation from my friend Adam Narciso to speak at a young adult conference about the power of creativity. Something got released inside of me from that invitation and a big part of that was released through this poem.

Creative Casualty

I’m a little upset.

I’m having a hard time getting over the fact…

That I was told this growing up...

Would you bare with me just a moment?

A noun is a person, place or thing...

It's not what what said.
But that which was left unsaid,

Which seems okay at face value
but if you pay attention to what is not there, yea,
what is omitted...
See, at some time around my teens
the list started to grow,
a noun was not just
a person, place or thing

but also an idea.

An idea?!

What a wicked concept, an invention of evil, a bad idea

to not tell children
That nouns are ideas.

For how can we have
People, places or things without

First having ideas?

For yes an idea is a dangerous thing!

Especially for uncorrupted minds of pre pubescent youth.

Ideas are why pens conqueror swords
Because pens move swords.
