Day #75 - I AM the Light of the World

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””

‭‭John‬ ‭8‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Were you scared of the dark as a child?

I was scared of the dark when I was young. I liked my parents to crack the door open when I went to sleep so I could see the light from the hallway. What is it that is so comforting about the light?

Jesus continues in John 8 with his I AM statements and declares, “I AM the light of the world.” When Jesus stepped into human history and lived among us he came as the light in the darkness. He is still is the light of the world. He is the light himself. It is part of his very essence and nature. The promise is that if we follow him we will never walk in darkness but have the light of life.

Darkness is about confusion, evil, chaos and malevolence in the Scripture, but the light is about exposing, healing, freedom, vision and liberty. To come into the presence of Jesus, the I AM, is to come into a place of marvelous light. Jesus can light up your darkest day or your most painful night.

Without Jesus you are walking in darkness but when He is the Lord of your life, you can actually see. C.S. Lewis said, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” When Christ is not just the light of the world, but the light of your world, then we not only see Jesus, we may see everything else as we should.

Time in the presence of Jesus is time with the light of the world and there is so much that he can show you as you are with him. Jesus said we would have the light of life. Think about that, he is inviting us into the place of deeper meaning and experience with him in this life. As we behold Jesus and see him, he shows us what we need to know about everything else.

Come and stand in the light of his presence and experience the light of the world. There is an authority to who he is because the light always triumphs over darkness. You were not made to hide in the dark but to live in the light of who Christ is.

Lord Jesus, light of the world, I love the way you light up my life. I see you, but how much more do I want to see you and know you. As you reveal yourself to me, you light up my life and allow me to see things from your perspective. I love to live in your light. Thank you for showing me the things of your heart as I live in your light. You are the light of my life. In your name, amen.

"...when He is the Lord of your life, you can actually see." There are things that He shows us (who have belief and faith) that are completely invisible to others. We praise You for that, Lord, and ask that You bring those in darkness into the light. ✝🙏🕊❤

Jesus is the light of the world and with Him there is no darkness. Thank you Lord that even on the darkest nights, you are with me. 🙏🏻♥️
